Ceramic Coating Process

Thorough Wash and Decontamination

The exterior of your car is given a thorough wash to ensure that areas such as wheel arches, trims around windows and bumper grilles are clean and free from debris.

The exterior is then chemically decontaminated to remove tar spots, iron particles from brake dust and mineral deposits, before a clay bar treatment is carried out, to remove any remaining contamination such as tree sap and paint overspray.

Machine Polishing

Once the car is fully cleansed and decontaminated. Your chosen amount of machine polishing is carried out.

A single stage machine polish will remove light swirl marks, improve gloss and ensure that there are no protective layers on the paint, that will interfere with the application of the ceramic coating.

A two stage machine polish will remove heavier swirl marks, some deeper scratches, greatly improve gloss and clarity of your paint, leaving a truly flawless finish.

Application

Once your car is polished, it is given a panel prep wipe down, to remove any oils from the polishing stage, that may interfere with the ceramic coating application.

Once panel wiped, we make sure that the temperature and humidity are within the ceramic coatings working range before application begins.

Curing Time

Once application of the ceramic coating is completed, it is allowed to cure a minimum of 12 hours over night, to ensure that the outer layer of the coating is ready for driving conditions and strong enough to protect against dirt, road grime, bug splatter and bird poo.

During this curing stage, the ceramic coating cannot get wet within the first 12 hours. Our mobile specific ceramic coating has a shorter curing time of 4 - 6 hours before it can get wet and be driven.

Looking after your ceramic coated car

Although a ceramic coated car offers superior protection and chemical resistance to other protection products, they are not bulletproof and will degrade over time depending on the usage of the car. Daily used cars that do a lot of motorway miles will degrade much quicker than cars used around town on short journeys. A ceramic coatings durabilty is based on a cars average yearly mileage in the UK.

Over time, your car will build up contamination, mineral deposits and grime, clogging up the ceramic coating, reducing the hydrophobic properties. Regular chemical decontamination and a wash with an acidic shampoo is best carried out every 3-4 months to unclog the ceramic coating and restore the hydrophobic properties.

Every year, it is recommended to fully deep clean the ceramic coating and apply a ceramic top coat, to boost the hydrophobic self cleaning properties and extend the life of the ceramic coating. During this yearly service, it is a great time to top up interior and alloy wheel ceramic coatings.

Our Maintenance Valet is available to customers who have previously booked their car in for one of our ceramic coating packages. This service is designed to be booked at regular intervals to keep your car looking great, all year round.

Add a reset wash at regular intervals ( recommended every 3-4 months ) to chemically decontaminate and unclog your cars ceramic coating.
