Ceramic Coating Process
Thorough Wash and Decontamination
We start with a full decontamination wash, cleaning wheel arches, window trims, grilles and all the areas where dirt builds up. The paintwork is then treated with a chemical decontaminant to break down tar, iron fallout from brake dust and mineral deposits. Finally, a clay bar removes any remaining bonded contaminants like tree sap and paint overspray — leaving a perfectly clean surface ready for the next stage.
Machine Polishing
With the paintwork fully decontaminated, we move on to machine polishing. This removes any old waxes or sealants that would prevent the coating from bonding properly.
Single-stage polish — Removes light swirl marks and restores gloss, ideal if your paint is in good condition but needs refining before coating.
Two-stage polish — A cutting compound removes deeper swirls and scratches, followed by a finishing polish to maximise clarity and depth. This leaves a flawless base for the coating to lock onto.
Application
Before coating, every panel is wiped down with an IPA-based prep solution to remove any polishing oils or residues that could affect bonding. We then check that the temperature and humidity in the workspace are within the coating manufacturer's specifications — getting these conditions right is critical for proper curing and long-term durability.
Curing Time
Once the coating has been applied, it needs a minimum of 12 hours to cure overnight. This allows the outer layer to harden fully so it can withstand daily driving conditions — dirt, road grime, bug splatter and bird droppings.
During this period, the coating must stay completely dry. Our mobile-specific coating has a shorter cure time of 4–6 hours before the car can get wet or be driven, making it ideal for customers who can't leave their vehicle off the road overnight.

Looking after your ceramic coated car
Ceramic coatings offer outstanding protection and chemical resistance, but they're not indestructible. Durability depends heavily on how the car is used — vehicles covering high motorway miles will see faster wear than those driven occasionally on shorter trips. UK coating lifespans are based on average annual mileage.
Over time, mineral deposits, road grime and bonded contaminants build up on the coating's surface, clogging it and reducing the hydrophobic effect. To keep the coating performing at its best, we recommend a reset wash every 3–4 months — a full chemical decontamination followed by a wash with an acidic shampoo that strips away contamination and restores the water-beading properties.
Once a year, your coating benefits from a yearly top-up service — a deep clean of the existing coating followed by a fresh ceramic top coat to boost self-cleaning properties and extend the coating's overall lifespan. It's also the ideal time to refresh interior fabric protection and alloy wheel coatings, keeping every protected surface performing as it should.
